Student Leader Academy Applications Due

Applications are now being accepted for the winter session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy, a leadership development program for students coordinated by the City of Carlsbad, The YouSchool, the Servant Leadership Institute and Carlsbad Unified School District staff. The academy addresses issues affecting youth in Carlsbad and further develops emerging youth leaders through civic education and service learning projects.

At a Glance

  • Carlsbad residents in grades ninth through 12th attending any high school can apply online.
  • Applications are due by Nov. 28, and there is no cost to apply or participate in the program.
  • Residents selected for the winter session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy will be notified by Dec. 10.
  • The 10-week program will be held once a week for two hours in the evening, Tuesday, Jan. 10 through Tuesday, March 4, 2017.

“We’re just finishing up our inaugural session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy,” said Debbie Fountain, the City of Carlsbad’s Housing & Neighborhood Services director. “It’s been inspiring to watch the students learn more about themselves, build a community with one another and get excited about how to contribute to Carlsbad.”
