The City of Carlsbad is hosting a household hazardous waste drop-off event on April 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5815 El Camino Real. Participation is free. Proof of residency and advanced registration are required. Registration opens March 20.

Residents can drop off household hazardous waste including old motor oil, paint, chemicals, batteries, pharmaceuticals, old pills and needles.
Limits per drop-off are 15 gallons or 125 pounds. Explosives, radioactive, biomedical or business wastes are not accepted.
The annual household hazardous waste drop-off event is held as part of the city’s Earth Month activities. The city hosts a series of events during the month of April to help keep Carlsbad clean and beautiful. All events are free. Some events require advance registration and proof of residency. Door-to-Door Service for Carlsbad Residents
The city provides service through Stericycle to collect household hazardous waste material from the front door of resident’s homes for a $10 fee. This service is available by appointment only. For an appointment, call 800-714-1195.
