Quarteto Nuevo Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, Carlsbad City Library complex, 1775 Dove Lane Quarteto Neuvo is a world chamber music group that merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin and jazz with an organic feel that packs a wallop! The ensemble’s razor-sharp precision is enhanced by its jazzy interludes, lightly rumbling percussion motifs and difficult to navigate time signatures. They effectively meld the music of ancient worlds and faraway places with a contemporary groove. Free tickets distributed beginning at noon. http://www.quartetonuevo.com/
Sunday, Sept. 24, 2 p.m. MandoBasso Georgina Cole Library Community Room, 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive MandoBasso is a duo featuring Gunnar Biggs on bass and Bill Bradbury on mandolin. Their mutual love of Irish and traditional American music brought them together in this unusual pairing of bass and mandolin. MandoBasso performances include arrangements of traditional music, new compositions, classical music, jazz and ragtime. Biggs is an accomplished jazz musician who has played with many of the greats. Bradbury is an Emmy Award-winning composer and music professor at California State University San Marcos. www.mandobasso.com
