Beach Preservation Committee Vacancies

The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling one unscheduled vacancy on the City of Carlsbad Beach Preservation Committee to complete an unexpired term through June 2018.  Applications for this volunteer position are available on the city’s website or in the City Clerk’s Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by noon on Oct. 6. 

The committee investigates and reports on topics or studies related to beach and bluff erosion, including lagoons and jetties, as directed by the city manager and City Council.  

The committee consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. All members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members normally serve four-year terms. 

The current vacancy will fulfill the unexpired term through June 2018. 

The Beach Preservation Committee normally meets at 4 p.m. the second Tuesday of every other month at the Parks & Recreation Administration Conference Room located at 799 Pine Ave. in Suite 200. 

Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and registered to vote in Carlsbad. Committee members are required to complete two hours of ethics training every two years and file a Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700 annual statement of economic interests. This statement, which is a public document, details a person’s financial interests such as property ownership and business ownership.
