Sunday, April 15, 2 – 3 p.m. Susan Meissner Georgina Cole Library, Community Room, 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive Join us as we celebrate Susan’s most anticipated novel yet, As Bright as Heaven, the compelling story of a mother and her daughters who find themselves in a harsh world not of their making, which will either crush their resolve to survive or purify. With her signature research skills, Susan uncovers a rarely-explored part of history: the 1918 Spanish Flu Epidemic. During this event, Susan will not only explore the devastation the world felt in the midst of the epidemic, but also the incredible strength that this kind of horror brings about in women and mothers when they must do whatever it takes to protect their families.
Each program will include a discussion with the authors followed by a book signing.
Author Talk events are presented in partnership with Adventures by the Book. The March event is made possible by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s Robert H. Gartner Cultural Endowment. The April event is made possible by the Friends of the Carlsbad Library.
