Earth Day Celebration 4/21

The City of Carlsbad is partnering with the Ecology Center to host an Earth Day Celebration on April 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgina Cole Library, located at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. Admission and participation at the event is free. 

At a Glance

  • The celebration features environmental education, experiential learning, arts, live music, free composting workshops, crop swapping, community garden tours, gardening class and a 32-foot double-decker bus that will share a hands-on environmental education experience. Advanced registration is required for the composting workshop
  • Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Participants are also encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle or canteen.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crop swapping, community garden tours, live music and environmental booths

9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Composting workshop (advanced registration required)

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Environmental Documentary Movie

10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon Story time

Noon to 12:45 p.m. Composting workshop (advanced registration required)

The Earth Day Celebration is held as part of the city’s Earth Month program designed to encourage waste reduction, recycling and increase awareness of sustainable practices in Carlsbad. The program supports California’s ambitious goal of 75 percent recycling or reduction of solid waste by the year 2020.
