Summer Reading Adventure Begins June 17

The City of Carlsbad’s 2019 Summer Reading Adventure for adults, teens, children, including toddlers and babies, begins on June 17 and runs through Aug. 11 at all Carlsbad library locations. This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories.” Participation is free for all ages.

  • The Summer Reading Adventure is a fun way for kids and teens to keep their reading skills sharp and prevent learning loss over the summer.
  • Beginning June 17, participants can create a free account at http://carlsbadlibrary.beanstack.org and sign up for the program that matches their age or grade.
  • The program allows children and teens to record and track their progress online.
  • Participants in the adult program earn entries into weekly drawings by submitting online book reviews.
  • Reading rewards are available for every age group.
  • Children and teens can earn bonus rewards by reporting about their reading to volunteers or staff at the library. 
  • Special events such as children’s performers and educational programs, Summer Reading Festival,author talks, Teen Talent Shows and concerts are planned in conjunction with the program.
