Carlsbad City Library is kicking of the New Year with the Winter Reading Challenge for all ages, between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31. Carlsbad’s collective community reading goal for January 2020 is 125,000 minutes. Participation is free.

The challenge is open to readers of all ages.
Participants can sign up and track their reading through Beanstack, Carlsbad’s web-based reading tracker, the Beanstack tracker app (available for iOS and Android) or at any Carlsbad City Library location.
Readers who log at least four hours will earn a Subway restaurant coupon for a six-inch sub (ages 13 and up) or a free kid’s meal (ages 12 and under), while supplies last.
The last day to pick up Winter Reading Challenge rewards is Feb. 7.
Thousands of libraries and schools nationwide participate in the challenge to celebrate the enjoyment of reading.
Top-performing libraries and schools will earn the Golden Penguin and Random House awards.
