A FREE art project and event for all ages and abilities
When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Where: Armada Drive at Fleet Street
Stop by our Pop Up Art booth at ArtWalk which returns to Carlsbad with its focus on fine art by more than 150 artists from all over the U.S. and Mexico. The Cultural Arts department and Arts Education instructors will have our colorful Pop Up Arts tents and tables set up at ArtWalk on both Saturday and Sunday, with a family friendly – all ages Pop Up Art project. Visit our booths for the activity and more information, including volunteer opportunities with Carlsbad Friends of the Arts.
Taking inspiration form Carlsbad's Flower Fields located right next to the ArtWalk event venue, participants will create their own Pop Art images of flowers using bold shapes, patterns, and colors. We’ll display Pop Artworks to help teach them about this famous art movement and provide photo examples of flowers grown in Carlsbad for them to use as models for their imagery.
Participants will learn about the art process of looking at something realistic and intentionally altering it in a Pop Art style. They will simplify something from a 3D to a flat view and be creative and have fun choosing vibrant colors and patterning.
Art project: Floral pop art
