DNA Misconceptions

Presented by Kelli Bergheimer

Speaker will present remotely / Presentation will be recorded

Often our misconceptions can lead us astray. In DNA analysis, sometimes we fall into surname traps, wrong assumptions, and confirmation bias. Learn how to recognize your misconceptions and address them.

The DNA Interest Group is a partnership program between Carlsbad City Library and the North San Diego County Genealogical Society. This program is designed to educate and inform people about the use of DNA testing for genealogical purposes through lectures on DNA. The DNA Interest Group is open to people who have all levels of computer and genealogy experience.

The program is held the third Saturday of the month from January through November and is presented in person and virtually.

  • Doors open at 12:30 p.m. for social time.
  • Presentations, including question-and-answer sessions, are held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Breakout discussions and individualized help is usually available until 3 p.m.
