Annual financial report honored

City recognized for excellence in financial reporting

Last week, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada notified the city that our fiscal year 2022-23 annual financial report earned the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 34th time, and the 27th year in a row. 
  • The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
  • You can think of it sort of like a corporate financial report.
  • Preparing this report includes an independent audit, the results of which are also included in the report.
Every year, the City of Carlsbad prepares an annual financial report that helps our community understand the fiscal condition of the city for each fiscal year. The report is just one of the ways the city maintains public trust and shows how the city is working to ensure excellent financial health.
 
The financial report is separate from the city budget, which details where the money comes from to fund city services and the spending plan for that money in the year ahead. (The city's budget is a regular award-winner, too.)
