The California History and Art Program at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park ignites student imagination as they learn California history. This on-site field trip provides a window into the past with lessons that reveal the experiences of the people who lived on this land: Luiseño Indians, European homesteader, and a Hollywood star recreating a Spanish Rancho. A creative art project hosted by the city’s Cultural Arts Office reinforces the experiences and introduces art appreciation to the students.
This award-winning program is offered free of charge to fourth grade classes located within the City of Carlsbad. The program is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and includes the following activities:
- View pre-tour information, videos, and virtual activities available!
- Live virtual or in-person tour of the historic ranch including the new Bunkroom exhibit.
- Art supplies and project instruction inspired by the history of the park and taught by City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office.
