The annual budget is reviewed and approved during a series of meetings each spring, and the city seeks input specific to the proposed budget as part of that process.

• Sign up to be notified of City Council meetings and get agendas and staff reports via email.
• Contact the City Council about your priorities in writing or by speaking during the public comment portion of the City Council agenda.
• Provide input anytime via email.

The city gathers input on issues affecting the budget all year through meetings, workshops, online surveys and more. Input helping to shape decisions reflected in the fiscal year 2024-25 budget included:

• Over 400 comments emailed from community members
• Over 385 participants at public workshops and meetings
• Over 4,600 surveys completed by community members
• Public workshops, online surveys and other engagement for specific projects

The city also sought input on the fiscal year 2024-25 budget itself through a public workshop, public meetings, social media and other channels.

Setting priorities

The annual budget includes work plans and resources to accomplish the goals in the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan. The plan includes five main goals that reflect the values the community identified as being most important through public meetings and online engagement.
