The City of Carlsbad is committed to addressing the problem of homelessness in our community and has devoted local resources toward this goal. To meet the goals of the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan, staff are implementing an updated Homelessness Action Plan to reduce homelessness and its effects on the community.
The Homelessness Action Plan continues the city's strategy of focusing on programs that will make the biggest difference for Carlsbad.
Progress updates
Staff provide regular progress updates to the City Council on the progress made toward reducing homelessness and its effects on the community.

Annual homeless count released

Federal housing grants awarded
The Carlsbad City Council on Tuesday awarded $518,215 in federal grants to local organizations with programs that prevent and reduce homelessness, preserve affordable housing and provide fair housing services in Carlsbad.

Grant to address homelessness
Last week, the state announced the latest recipients of grant funding to address homeless encampments. The cities of Carlsbad and Oceanside applied jointly and were awarded $11.4 million to address encampments along State Route 78.

2024 Point in Time count

Expanding Carlsbad’s only homeless shelter
